SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN SPECIAL NEEDS:

He takes great initiatives to serve the humanity. One of such good deeds is the “School for Special Needs Children (mentally retarded)” near Patiala under his patronage. Students attending special schools generally could not attend classes in mainstream schools. This school is one of its kinds in the Northern Region of the country. This charitable institution when fully completed will cater to 650 special students with hostel accommodation for 300 students. The construction is at its full swing and would be operational by the year 2016. The fully air conditioned two towers of the six-storey building school are complete and currently the school is operational with 80 hostellers & 200 students. One tower was inaugurated by Capt. Amarinder Singh on 07.05.2011. The second tower will start soon. This school is specifically designed, staffed and resourced to provide the appropriate special education for children with additional needs. Student-teacher ratios have been kept low according to the needs of these children. The school is affiliated with Punjabi University Patiala. Each year 25 teachers will be awarded with Diploma certificate from the teaching staff & another 25 teachers shall be given qualification of B.ED for Special Needs Children. This school will also have other convenient facilities for the development of these children with special needs such as soft play areas, sensory rooms, Yoga session, physiotherapy & swimming pools, which are vital for the therapy of certain conditions.

Mr. Singh has laid the foundation stone for the Hostel on 16^thApril 2012 at Village Saifdipur, Near Punjabi University Patiala, to accommodate 400 Deaf & Blind students having separate residential facilities for Boys & Girls.The 1 acre Land has been Purchased by Sarbat Da Bhala Trust Patiala.
